The Thrift Shop
(An outreach ministry of St Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church)
The Thrift Shop is open Fridays, from 1-4pm, and Saturdays, from 10am-1pm. It is staffed entirely by volunteers, who donate about 500 hours each month in sorting and sales. The Thrift Shop offers area residents the opportunity to purchase everything imaginable at a fraction of its retail cost. In partnership with the We Care Center, it honors vouchers for needed items, giving our community’s neediest families clothes and shoes, among other things.
The Thrift Shop has provided stuffed animals for the Sheriff’s department (comforting when children are removed from the home), prom dresses for high school girls who can’t afford the expense but want to participate, needed items for Christgate, the local homeless shelter for women and their children, blankets for the Newberry Humane Society when temperatures plummeted, and much, much more.
The Thrift Shop is an exciting store, not just because of what it sells, but because of what it allows our church to accomplish, in Christ’s name.
