At St. Francis of Assisi, we share a passion for helping others in our community and throughout the world. We support a number of programs designed to help those in need and further the mission of the Christian church.
Founded in 1983, the St. Francis of Assisi Thrift Store has a significant impact not only in our Chapin community, but throughout the world, as funds raised through the sale of donated items supports a variety of outreach ministries around the globe. Thanks to our numerous volunteers, we are able to provide goods and services to those in need.
Some of the beneficiaries of our outreach ministries include Sistercare, We Care Food Bank, Episcopal Disaster and Relief, His Hands Ministries, the Free Medical Clinic, the community of Cange, Haiti and Central Asia Institute to build schools for Afghani and Pakistani girls to name a few.
The outreach committee hosts a number of events throughout the year to help disadvantaged youth in our community, including a summer camp, school supply drive, a fall carnival, Easter baskets and annual Christmas party.
Our parish has also supported a number of adult and youth mission trips throughout the years. Adult parishioners have traveled a number of times to Mississippi to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. Our Youth went on mission trips to Quito, Ecuador in 2010, and to Calais, Maine in 2011.
We look forward to breaking ground on our new Thrift Shop in 2012. Please be on the look out for more details on our ground breaking ceremony and grand opening!
